Ladies That Lunched...

Created by Gary 4 years ago
We travelled the journey with Carolyn as she went through the highs and lows of dealing with her cancer. She was a heroine in our eyes as she bore that burden with great fortitude and enormous bravery. She didn’t like you to tell her that she was brave – but in our eyes, she was. Sometimes she wanted to talk about her illness and sometimes she didn’t – we just took the cue from her.

We both treasure our friendship with Carolyn which has spanned many years from when all our girls were born. Her medical knowledge was amazing and no –one else has supported the health and well being of us and our families like Carolyn has done. Her care for others and her kindness were one of her greatest strengths. I just hope that we have learnt enough from her about looking after ourselves to deal with whatever the future holds. Carolyn’s belief in the power of alternative medicine was inspirational and we believe that her tenacious approach prolonged her life substantially. It takes a special person to do that.

Since we’ve all retired the ladies lunches ,garden visits, shopping, dogs and grandchildren have given the three of us many happy times together. In the last few years Carolyn loved the peace and quiet at Burhill Golf Club and this photo shows the three of us one lunchtime. She also loved sitting round Moira’s kitchen table enjoying the meals so lovingly made with Carolyn in mind- all things that she could swallow and eat easily. Moira’s soup, fish pie and crème caramel being her favourites.

When we can return to socializing with some sort of normality Moira and I plan to have a special lunch together where we will share memories of Carolyn and toast our dear friend who we miss so much.

She loved sharing photos and videos of Phoebe’s antics. Rory was able to meet his Nanny at the end of her life but sadly she won’t be part of his growing up.

We send our love to your family and look forward to sharing in the memorial to Carolyn later in the year.
